how did language in England develop

It all started with the Roman empire change the English native language to there own language Latin. After a few years the Angalo saxons came and change the language to Old English (Germanic) they changed some of the cultures as well . Then the french came along and influenced some of the Germanic words . Then it when Early modern English like Shakespeare . Now we are speaking Modern English.
